MSE Programs expands partnership with University of Coimbra, Portugal
In Fall 2009, the collaboration between ISR's Masters of Software Engineering Programs and the University of Coimbra expands with the launch of the Master of Science in Information Technology-Software Engineering (MSIT-SE) degree program. This partnership began in 2007 with the launch of a joint dual degree initiative, candidates applied for the Master's of Software Engineering (MSE) program offered at the University of Coimbra, subject to the same review and acceptance standards of all program applicants. Accepted students then began their course of study and project work while in Portugal, arriving on Carnegie Mellon’s campus for the spring semester.
Although the MSIT-SE student has less industry experience than an MSE, the same rigorous admissions requirements with respect to language competency, GRE scoring, prior academics and recommendations remain the same.
Established in 1290, the University of Coimbra maintains a strong international visibility. Its history in the area of software development includes the introduction of a graduate Informatics degree program in 1983, followed quickly thereafter by the offering of an undergraduate program in 1984. With its strong industry affiliations and notable infrastructure, the University's Faculty of Science and Technology is capably positioned to support the teaching of advanced technology.
Application deadline for the UC-MSIT-SE is May 29, 2009. To apply to the program, or for more information on the University of Coimbra, please visit the website at: http://mse.dei.uc.pt.
